Your aesthetician will begin by applying a gentle cleanser to your face. Next, they will hold the skin taut and use a gentle, feathering motion to scrape the surgical blade against the grain of the hair at a 45-degree angle. To finish, they’ll apply a hydrating, soothing serum to lock in moisture. The procedure typically takes around 30 minutes.

Recovery and aftercare

Dermaplaning requires no downtime and you can immediately resume normal daily activities after this exfoliating treatment. 

To reduce the potential of irritation, avoid:

• Chlorine pools and hot tubs for 24 hours
• Exfoliants, chemical peels and retinol for 2–4 weeks
• Sun exposure and extreme heat for 5–7 days
